About Me

I'm Tom — an experienced IT professional based in Rugby, Warwickshire, with a career built on getting deep into systems and making them work properly. I've worked across Unix/Linux environments, automation engineering, cloud infrastructure, and currently spend my days in the Splunk ecosystem at Lloyds Banking Group.

I like understanding how things actually work — not just the surface, but the mechanics underneath. That applies equally to systems, code, and (maybe unsurprisingly) to how a musical phrase sits in the context of a song.

Outside the day job, you'll find me singing with an aim to appeer in musical theatre productions, taking on DIY projects around the house, experimenting with woodworking, or tinkering with electronics. This site is one of those tinkering projects — a hands-on way to learn modern web development by building something real that actually belongs to me.

This isn't a CV. It's just my corner of the internet.

Another slot for something real. Could end up being a home automation project, a woodworking log, or something I haven't thought of yet.

Singing

I've been taking singing lessons, mostly inthe style of musical theatre, for a couple of years comfortable in the baritone range with a tenor upper extension. Something i wish i pushed myself to do many years earlier, as its been a passion of mine since i was a teenager. There's something deeply satisfying about nailing a difficult song, the same way there's satisfaction in getting a complex script to run cleanly. Both require patience, precision, and a lot of repetition.

This section will grow over time. The plan is to log practice sessions, track what I'm working on, and eventually embed recordings. For now — a placeholder with good intentions.
